No problem. I don’t strongly disagree with you. I think we can agree that children should be treated fairly and with respect. We do agree that they shouldn’t be abused. Where we might disagree is what constitutes abuse and what can be done to prevent it.

I don’t see reasonable CP as abuse per se. When I was at school I considered being deprived of my freedom (by having to serve a detention or waste time writing lines) as far more abusive than a couple of whacks with a slipper. Denying a child a legal right or punishing him (or her), no matter how lightly, for exercising a legal right is abuse.
